I'm doing okay. Trying to catch up on rest. Percoset is a lifesaver. So is Danny as he's been feeding her. I hope to take a shower as soon as her returns. The last 24 hours have been difficult, but its slowly getting better. Danny is helping me keep an eye on my emotional well-being too. We are slowly adjusting to being a new little family. I'll update as soon as we have another significant update.

Thursday Update
I've been released from the hospital, but Melanie hasn't. They tested this morning and discovered they had borderline jaundice and had lost 13% of her body weight. She hasn't been latching on, so her diet is formula via syringe. We have a third test in a hour to check her jaundice levels. They may put her under the lamps.

Thanks so much for the update. Our prayers continue with your new little family. Jaundice is common in newborns. We're praying she clears soon. It's not easy to leave your little one in the hospital.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Gramma T.
Sorry to hear Melanie can't go home yet, but I'm glad they are on top of the problem. i know you would hate to leave her but her well being is very important, to all of us extended family members.
ReplyDeleteKeep working with her latching on, I hope she gets the idea soon.
Glad Danny is keeping an eye on you, this is not the time to get upset,(ruins your milk supply). I'm sure everything will be okay before to long.
Love to all,
Grandma
After reading the blog again I want to say a special thank you to Danny for taking care of my baby and her baby. Wish I was there to help too, but I know she needs you most of all.
ReplyDeleteSpecial hugs to Danny today. ♥
Grandma
Lori, I'm sorry she has to stay at the hospital for a bit longer. Jaudice really is very common and I hope her's clears up soon! Get some rest and let yourself feel whatever you need to feel. C-sections rough you up in more than just the physical. If you need a shoulder, I'm here for you.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm glad to say baby Melanie is home tonight, with her mom & dad. She is SO perfect! She's still very, very tiny, but considering my baby is Danny, it's to be expected I'd see her as very small.
ReplyDeleteMom & baby are still working on the feeding thing, but I think Melanie's getting the hang of it. Lori's very patient with her and Danny's right there to jump in and do whatever he can to help, as are Dan & I.
Dan & I consider ourselves very blessed to be able to be here with them and know it's a privilege. Who knows if we'll be able to be here the next time they have a baby, and there will be a next time, I'm sure!
Such good news! Thanks, Tracy, for the update. It's wonderful that you and Dan are there to lend a hand. Our prayers are with you all.
ReplyDeleteYes, Tracy thanks for the update. Maybe next time they will be closer and we can all be there to help.
ReplyDeleteGood news is always wonderful to hear, makes me sleep better at night, I feel so darn helpless over here.
Bless you all,
Grandma
Great News!
ReplyDeleteWe are very happy to hear that all of our "babies" are home and doing well.
Cheryl and I are so jealous we wish we were there.
Note to Melanie;
Eat your dinner!
Milk is good for you.
